Batch to Get Things Done!

Say you've used the Eisenhower Matrix to identify your priorities, and there are some not important and not urgent items that you aren't ready to eliminate or are unable to delegate. What do you do?

Consider batching. Take items that are similar in nature. By themselves each would never take more than 5 or 10 minutes so they never make it to your calendar or to do list.

Do you have 3 to 5 of these items? Where they use the same skills or similar type of work is needed, such as doing online research, shopping, and scheduling? Is it now meaty enough to carve out time to do them?

Getting these done relieves stress and helps us feel accomplished. It can be a great way to use afternoon slumps when you don't have as much mental energy for the important items on your list. Throw on some music, pound out a few items over 30 minutes, celebrate after completing each one, and see how much more refreshed and energetic you feel afterwards!
